Newspaperman, scout and public servant, Albert Banta came to Arizona in 1863. He began working at the Tucson Citizen in 1870, established five newspapers and edited others at various times. He served as deputy Sheriff in Pima County, district attorney of Apache County, probate judge, scout, guide and Indian fighter under Gen. Crook, Stoneman and others. Journalist; arrived in Tucson in 1873, in 1886 he purchased the Tucson Citizen and owned it for twenty years. He later owned the Tucson Post, and was editor of the Arizona Daily Star.
